  Dateline: Jackson formerly McKenzie   Services for Phyllis Marie Franks, 79, will be held Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home with Brother Dennis Trull officiating. Interment will follow at Little Prairie Cemetery, Caruthersville, MO. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00p.m.   Mrs. Franks, retired from the Unemployment office, died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Mrs. Franks was born on September 30, 1936 in Caruthersville, MO. to Samuel and Flora Mae Holt McClanahan. She was a member of First Baptist Church West Jackson and was a very active member of First Baptist Church in McKenzie during her years in McKenzie. She was the First Lady Rotarian President for the State of Tennessee, chairwoman for the Tennessee National Democratic Committee, local campaign manager for Ray Blanton and in the 1970’s she co-chaired a fundraising committee for Bethel College that involved Bob Hope. She loved pets, working in her flower garden and traveling. She traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, England, Europe and the Upper East Coast. Her favorite loves was her family, she was very active in all their activities including watching her grandchildren play sports. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Joe Thomas Franks, who died August 23, 2015.   Survivors include two sons Randy (Lee Ann) Franks of Jackson, and Kenny (Kathy) Franks of Jackson, three grandchildren Jessica Franks, Jeremy Franks and Kassie Marie Franks and her beloved pet Benjie.
