Funeral services for Ben Thomas Surber is Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzie Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends after the service at the church in the gathering area. Interment is at Shiloh Cemetery and Reverend Kevin Wood.

Mr. Surber, age 84, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at AHC of McKenzie. He was born in McKenzie on August 20, 1936 to the late Ben Burns Surber and Kathleen Thomas Surber.

He had a life of public service, including as a commissioner of Carroll County for 44 years, elder in the McKenzie First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Member of the McKenzie Special School District Board of Education, member of the Bethel University Board of Trustees, and was selected Carroll Countian of the year 2010. He served in the Army National Guard from 1958 to 1964.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lenore Patterson Surber, daughter Natalie ( John) Austin of McKenzie, son Tommy (Meredith) Surber of McKenzie, five grandchildren, Reed (Savannah) Austin, Jack Surber, Ben Austin, Eli Surber and Tate Surber, all of McKenize.
