Mrs. Charleene Parker, a longtime resident of McKenzie and Paris, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 1, 2020, at the American Health Communities - Paris Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  She was preceded in death by her husband of over six decades, Robert W. Parker, and her youngest son, Alan Jeffery Parker. She is survived by her son, Colonel Joe Robert Parker, U.S. Army, Retired, (Monika), Alexandria, VA; two grandsons, Jonathan Austin Parker (Andrea) and Jason Christopher Parker (Erin) of Nashville, TN and four great granddaughters: Madilyn, Morgan, Taylor Grace, and Caroline Parker of Nashville.  She also leaves behind two nieces, Jennifer Waldrup and Barbara Brewer and their families and three nephews, Billy Barksdale, Mark Barksdale, and Kenneth Miller and their families.

Mrs. Parker was born and raised in Carroll County and lived in Paris for over 30 years where her husband Robert served as a wildlife officer with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.  Following his retirement from TWRA, they returned to McKenzie to reside in the home that Charleene’s grandfather had built in 1923 and where Charleene was born.

Mrs. Parker dedicated her life to her family while serving as a full-time mom and homemaker. She also worked for over fifty years as an independent sales representative with the Avon Corporation which gave her the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.

Her personal hobbies included taking care of her cats and western square dancing.  She also enjoyed talking on the telephone and keeping in close touch with friends.

Mrs. Parker and her husband were longtime members of the First Baptist Church of Paris.

A private graveside service and burial will be conducted at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the staff at American Health Communities - Paris Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the caring and compassionate care they provided her each and every day of the time she was there.
