Mr. Cooper, 85 years old, died at his residence September 20, 2023. He was born December 20, 1937, in Madison Co. MO. He was the second child of Glen Dale Cooper and Mildred McGrew Cooper. He lived with his grandparents on a farm while his parents worked in St. Louis at the factories to support the war effort. After the war he moved to St. Louis, and sold newspapers after school for 5 cents a paper. After high school he joined the Air Force where he worked in supply and flew over the Artic checking for bomb testing. In 1960 he left the Air Force and upon returning home he decided to go to California for work. He stopped in Denver to see friends and while eating in a restaurant he saw a “lovely young woman”. He turned to his friend and said, “I’m going to marry that girl” and he did. They were married April 27, 1963, and had three children. He worked various jobs, an Engineer for the DRG Railroad, a Volunteer fireman with the Arvada Fire Department but his favorite job was with his wife driving a truck for AFW trucking. He is a member of the Fraternal Order of the Elks since 1962, and enjoys hunting Elk with his sons and grandsons, sharing books with his daughter and growing violets.
