Mary Hamilton was born to Dwight, Sr. and Annie Lou Hamilton on January 8, 1928 in Humboldt, Tennessee. She died Thursday morning, May 9, 2024 at the age of 96 in her residence at Dogwood Pointe Assisted Living in Milan, Tennessee. She graduated in 1946 from Humboldt High School and attended Bethel College from which she graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She taught for more than 30 years in the Gibson and Trezevant school districts. She retired from teaching in 1987.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Wayne David Bryant, Sr. and her parents, Annie Lou Keenan and Francis Dwight Hamilton, Sr. She is survived by her children, Frances Ann Bryant Belew (Ronnie) and Wayne David Bryant, Jr. (Pam); two grandchildren, Nicholaus Andrew Bryant (Mandy) and Dustin Michael Bryant (Malyssa); and two great grandchildren, Elijah Hamilton Bryant and Callie Reece Bryant. Her surviving brothers and sisters-in-law are: Jere Hamilton (Sarah) of Livingston, Texas, James Hamilton (Glynda) of Routon, Tennessee, and Pat Hamilton (widow of Jack Hamilton) of Humboldt. She leaves a family full of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was the favorite sister of her adoring brothers. Four of those brothers and three sisters-in-law also preceded her in death: Guy Keenan (infant), Frances Dwight Hamilton, Jr. (Doris), Joe Hamilton (Allee), and Jack Hamilton (Sybil).
Mary was a faithful Christian and attended services at the Trezevant church of Christ.
Sunday, May 12, visitation for the family will begin at 4 p.m. with visitation for friends to follow from 5-7p.m. Monday, May 13, visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and last until the funeral starts at 11. All services will be held at the Trezevant church of Christ.
