Our History

Brummitt Funeral Home and McKenzie Funeral Home are pleased to announce that as of May 1, 2012, the two local funeral home providers will join forces to better serve the families of McKenzie and surrounding areas. Brummitt Funeral Home has a rich tradition of serving the families of McKenzie as well as Carroll County and the surrounding area over the past 67 years.

May 1 will be a new beginning! A way to continue to serve the families from a newer, more modern facility that has been traditionally known as McKenzie Funeral Home. With the joining of forces, the new location will be known as Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home. Continuing in the tradition that Mr. Jack Brummitt founded years ago, the staff will remain the same while allowing us the opportunity to improve the level of service and continue to maintain affordability to any family in need. We will ensure that all families needs are served providing funeral and cremation services for any family whether simple or extravagant.

For those families desiring cremation, this also gives Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home a distinct advantage as families can further be comforted knowing that their loved one never leaves the funeral home's care. All current staff will be retained. The full-time staff will consist of Joel Summers, who will continue as manager, licensed funeral director and embalmer of the Cedar Avenue location, while Jennifer Highfil Pinson will serve as a licensed funeral director and pre-arrangement counselor. The Brummitt Funeral Home Chapel in Trezevant will remain as is, without change. This chapel will be serviced from the Cedar Avenue Chapel. As well, all current pre-arranged funeral services are safe and secure. They will be honored at the new location, exactly as written.

If we can assist you in any way, if you have questions, or are in need of funeral or cremation services, don't hesitate to contact Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home at 731-352-4848.
